Catholics have always turned instinctively for help to the Mother of God in times of need and so, in 2012 we turn to Our Lady for help. Many of the values that have shaped our country from the beginning seem to be at risk.

Pope Benedict XVI and the American Bishops have noted the erosion of religious freedom, the first value guaranteed by the constitution. This novena challenges all of us to a deeper conversion to Christ and a more generous life of charity. The proximity of this novena to the 2012 Presidential Election also offers an opportunity to pray for all of our movement officials and to seek Divine assistance in the election.

This is a critical time for our nation therefore everyone is invited to join the

Knights of Columbus to pray this novena. The novena will begin on the feast

of the Archangels, Saturday, Sept. 29th. through Oct. 7th. The Feast of the Most

Holy Rosary. Times are Monday through Friday 6:30pm. Saturday 6:15pm,

Sunday 7:15pm. Location, Chapel St. Paul the Apostle Church.

The novena is available for downloading at www.religiousliberties.org/novena.

Good Day Brother Knight’s

Connie was the keynote speaker to kick off Ministry Sundy this morning.

Here is a the text of his presentation:

Good Morning, My name is Conrad Wencka, I joined St. Paul the Apostle Parish in early 2000. Presently I am a member of the Parish Council and a practical catholic. The roll of the Parish council is to connect the parish and pastoral staff in a common reflection of our church’s mission and her ministries. This year the Council coordinated the 20year anniversary celebration also ministry weekend to name but a few of our functions.

I am actively involved in numerous ministries at our Church. Which are Eucharistic Minister, Minister of Care and Lector. Also I am the present Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, Divine Mercy Council 11112 and the Faithful Outer Sentinel and administrative assistant to the Faithful Navigator, for Knights of Columbus Assembly 0197 at Marytown. Through all of the ministries mentioned, I have significantly grown in my Catholic faith freely giving of myself and the talents God has blessed me with.

Today I am not advocating or promoting any specific ministry for you to join that choice is yours. However I would like to share with you my most recent experience as a minister of care providing a faithful Catholic woman with the gift of Holy Communion. After the woman received Communion in her hospital bed, she cried out in a very loud and meaningful voice thank you Jesus for coming to me because I cannot come to you. I was very moved and touched by her words for I was the vessel of God’s love to her.

I strongly encourage each and everyone here today to sincerely go out next weekend and make adifference, not only in your life but in the life of those of those you will touch by joining aministry. Conveying God’s love in your words, actions and deeds you willsignificantly grow in your faith. One point to always to remember, you will become a vessel of God’s love in the ministry you choose to join, be all you can be and truly experience the greater awareness of God’s presense in your life.
