Plenary Indulgence - Marytown

Post date: Nov 10, 2012 4:25:38 AM

Brother Knights,

Grand Knight Conrad Wencka has informed the Council that the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Marytown, is to be designated a site for the obtaining of plenary indulgences during this, the Year of Faith.

Father Stephen McKinley's notice is attached.

In all of Catholic theology, there is perhaps no more misunderstood doctrine than the doctrine of indulgences. To most Catholics today, the word "indulgence" sounds archaic, medieval. Yet, rightly understood, indulgences are a powerful spiritual work of mercy, an opportunity to win souls for Christ, and a witness to the communion between the Church Militant here on Earth and the holy souls in Purgatory.

The following web link will give you more details about what indulgences are, and, equally important, what they are not. Seriously consider taking this opportunity. Vivat Jesus!
