Prayer for Canonization

Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people.

If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Brother Knights, attached are weblinks to photos from the Friday, June 8 “Stand Up for Religious Freedom” rally held in Chicago’s Federal Plaza.

Chicago’s rally drew an estimated 3500 people, and Chicago was just one of 164 rallies in cities throughout the United States. An excellent lineup of speakers from different faith traditions, all of whom stand with the Catholic Church on this issue. Cardinal George contributed a recorded message as he couldn’t be there in person.

The Knights of Columbus were all over the Plaza, very well represented in numbers and banners.

Young Catholics from St. John Cantius Church walked the 2.5 miles from their church to the Plaza, and burst into the crowd at the end of the Rally with dancing and celebration.

Gentlemen:

See the posting from the blog (Read to the end). I have included Sue and Mark from SPA and Father Ray.

It was approved by the Officers we are now on the Chamber of Commerce for Gurnee. This will help with our exposure around the Village and help show our good works. Who knows maybe more trees

I will be focusing on work over the next few months as a new piece of business has started and it is now going to be eating up more of my time. So you may not see much of me.

So if you can please start using the Blog for communications as this is hopefully our new website the address is http://divinemercy11112kofcgurnee.wordpress.com/ click follow. Just post your comments.

Please make sure to mark your calenders for June 23rd the installation of the council officers at SPA of Divine Mercy and June 29th the installation of officer for Bishops Quarter Assembly. The times will be given at Thursday’s business meeting.

See Joe and get you raffle books for the Seminarians the cost is $15,00 with portion going back to the council.

At the State Convention Bob Parisi was awarded as a top seller of Insurance so please congratulate him when you see him.

At Thursday meeting there will be discussion on the budget and closing out the year as a new one starts.

Thank you Ken King along with the Officers and Trustee’s of 2012 for the leadership, guidance and fellowship over the last year. Welcome Connie along with the new officers and Trustee’s starting in July.

I will not be at the meeting on Thursday and ask that you pray for the underemployed and unemployed and our armed services. Also John R., Brother past this last week. Please keep my family and I in your thoughts to.

One last item I have asked the expense of $321.00 be approved at the meeting on Thursday for 2 (18 x 18) Knights of Columbus signs, these are to be posted at two of the entrances to the Village of Gurnee be approved by the Council.

They are reflective and will be posted at the south east entrance point on Route 21 near the Merit club and the other will near north on Rt 41 or near 120 and Greenleaf. Father Ray has kindly agreed to bless them and the village will put these up at no cost. Each time someone enters at these points to the village they will see there is an active Knights Council. Please vote yes for this.

Get the word out on the Fortnight this is important and the Bishops are supporting this and if there is a network or e-mail group you want to send this to please go ahead. I have posted entry on linked in and facebook.

Have a great weekend and if I do not see you a great 4th of July. I do plan on being at the installations on the 23rd and 29.

Thanks,

Mark Stoyas
