Brother Knights,

I am sure that you have already heard of the Cardinal’s cancer reoccurrence. Cardinal George has asked for “continued prayers for all affected by cancer, the doctors and medical staff that work with patients and their families, as well as for himself.” This statement is quintessential Francis George – putting others before himself always.

As the Cardinal remembers you in his daily prayers, he relies upon your prayers for him – they are a significant aspect of his continuing health journey.

If you would like to send a message and/or prayer to the Cardinal, you can click on the link below and you will be connected to a message center that is attached to the Archdiocese web page.

http://www.archchicago.org/cardinal/contact/default.aspx

If you would prefer to send your prayers and messages via the U.S. Mail, you can send them through me at the address listed below and I will personally deliver them to him.

Vivat Jesus!

Brother Knights,

At our August 19 blood drive LifeSource collected 15 units of blood, each of which can save up to 3 lives. Several brother knights from our council stopped by and donated, including our worthy grand knight, Conrad Wencka.

Information for the blood drive has already been submitted to Illinois State Council so that our council #11112 will be credited for sponsoring the event.

LifeSource has shared that they would like to see progress towards us getting 30 donors per drive in order to make the blood drives more successful for them. I have responded that our council would make an effort to get additional parishioners committed to donating prior to our scheduling the next drive.

Here is the recent history of our council’s drives:

8/19/12 – 15 donations

12/18/11 – 20 donations

10/10/10 – 11 donations

8/30/09 – 15 donations

6/29/08 – 23 donations

6/10/07 – 22 donations

10/03/04 – 19 donations

Vivat Jesus,

Zach Decker

Brother Knights, enjoy this photo of the color guard for this summer’s Relay for Life held at

Warren Township High School. The Council was very well-represented, as you can see. Thanks to all who came out.
